Events in Paphos

Ancient festival: Dionysius was the Greek God of wine and partying. Thousands of years later the party’s still in full swing, and every year a festival is held in his honour in Paphos. The Anthestiria Flower Festival takes place each May when brightly decorated floats adorned with flowers make their way through the town in a celebration of nature.

Traditional Greek dancing: Every August, the Arkadia Festival brings together great local food and traditional Greek dancing. Held in the nearby town of Kallepeia, it’s a chance for you to join in with the locals and get a real taste of traditional Cypriot life. The feast and dance lasts well into the night, so make sure you’ve packed some dancing shoes!

For opera lovers: Paphos’ stunning medieval castle forms the dramatic backdrop for the Aphrodite Festival each September. A real cultural treat, every year a world-renowned theatre troupe will perform a popular opera as part of the festivities. The acoustics in the ancient amphitheatres are astonishing, bringing a whole new level of enjoyment for classical music lovers.
